At Importaco, we understand that caring for the soil means caring for the future of agriculture. It is a living ecosystem capable of storing carbon, supporting water infiltration and retention, reducing erosion and maintaining intense biological activity.<\/p>\n Preserving these functions is key to addressing increasingly frequent phenomena, such as droughts and episodes of heavy rainfall, and to ensuring long-term crop productivity.<\/p>\n Regenerative agriculture to improve soil health<\/strong><\/p>\n Through Importaco Terra, our own almond farming project in Spain and Portugal, we apply regenerative farming practices aimed at protecting and regenerating the soil.<\/p>\n These include maintaining plant cover, making use of organic matter, integrated pest management, optimising nutrient use and continuously monitoring agronomic indicators that enable us to improve soil health campaign after campaign.<\/p>\n These practices help increase biodiversity, improve soil structure and support a more efficient use of natural resources.<\/p>\n A commitment to biodiversity<\/strong><\/p>\n Soil protection is closely linked to biodiversity conservation.<\/p>\n That is why we complement agronomic management with actions that support the balance of agricultural ecosystems, such as installing shelters for beneficial fauna, nest boxes and conserving spontaneous vegetation, creating more resilient and healthier environments for crops.<\/p>\n A recognised agricultural model<\/strong><\/p>\n Our commitment to sustainability is also reflected in the implementation of international standards that endorse the responsible management of our farms.<\/p>\n Importaco Terra\u2019s farms have achieved Silver level in the Farm Sustainability Assessment (FSA), becoming the first Spanish almond farms to receive this recognition.
