At Importaco, sustainability is not a trend — it’s the foundation of how we work, innovate, and create long-term value. Every year, we strengthen our commitment to a responsible business model that generates a positive impact on the planet, improves people’s well-being, and guarantees the highest quality in our products. The new 2024 Sustainability Report clearly reflects the progress, challenges, and results we have achieved on this journey.
Environmental sustainability: progressing towards climate neutrality
One of the most significant milestones this year has been the validation of our climate strategy by the international Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), recognising that our targets are aligned with the Paris Agreement. We are committed to reducing our CO₂ emissions by 30% by 2030 and achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
Energy efficiency is a key part of this strategy. In 2024, 9.2% of the electricity consumed in our centres came from solar self-consumption, and all Importaco production sites in Spain are certified under the ISO 50001 standard, ensuring efficient and continuously improving energy management.
Efficient use of natural resources and circular economy
In line with our environmental objectives, we continue to optimise the use of resources. Over the past year, we reused more than 122,000 m³ of water through advanced purification systems, and we developed specific plans to reduce the water footprint in high-consumption processes, such as at our spring water sites.
We also continue to drive a strong circular economy strategy: over 80% of our industrial waste is recycled or recovered, and our nut plants in Spain renewed their Zero Waste certification.
Regenerative agriculture: sustainability from the source
We believe that sustainable food begins in the field. That’s why we manage more than 550 hectares of almond trees using regenerative agriculture techniques, which promote biodiversity, improve soil health, and reduce the use of pesticides. This philosophy also guides our relationships with agricultural suppliers, whom we support in adopting responsible environmental and social practices.
Importaco People: talent and commitment for a positive impact
Our team is the driving force behind our positive impact. In 2024, Importaco employed 2,503 people committed to a culture based on collaboration, respect, and continuous improvement. We continue to promote initiatives focused on occupational safety, equal opportunities, training, and talent development — convinced that people’s well-being is key to building a sustainable future.
Quality, innovation and health in our products
Responsible innovation and healthy eating are two essential pillars of our model. Over the past year, we launched 210 new products, all developed with a clear focus on health, sustainability, and transparency. Our clean label policy and commitment to clear labelling strengthen the trust of our clients and consumers.
We are also progressing in reformulating products to reduce salt, sugar, and fat content, promoting a more balanced diet. We currently operate 18 production sites certified under the most demanding international food quality and safety standards.
Sustainable results driving our growth
Importaco closed the 2024 financial year with a turnover of €910 million and a net profit of €44 million. These results allow us to continue investing in sustainability, technological innovation, and the development of our industrial and human capabilities. Because for us, growth only makes sense when it creates a positive impact.
At Importaco, every fact, every action, and every decision reflects a clear vision: to build a solid, sustainable business model, ready for the challenges of the future.
