Alberto Gallardo, new Managing Director of Importaco

11 Sep, 2023

Importaco welcomes Alberto Gallardo as the new Managing Director of the company. He will report directly to Toño Pons, who will remain in his role as President and CEO of the group. The new Managing Director will be in charge of general management and the business units for nuts and mineral water.

Separating these roles has been driven by the significant growth that the company has experienced in recent years. In 2022, the company surpassed €700 million in revenue and it currently employs more than 2300 people in nine different countries. Importaco’s President will continue to have full powers and will be more focused on boosting the company’s institutional profile and promoting its strategic development in international markets.

This change “reflects our need to strengthen both our company’s growth and our legacy as a family business. The growth we have achieved means we need to pay more attention to governance. Our commitment is to continue to be leaders in the market in Spain and to expand our model to other European markets” stated Toño Pons.

Alberto Gallardo holds a degree in Economics and Business Sciences from CUNEF and has over 20 years of experience in the consumer goods and B2B food industries. He has experience in the food sector and was CEO of Emsur. He also led Deoleo’s strategic and commercial development in international markets.

“I am very excited to join the Importaco team. Importaco is a benchmark in the industry for its commitment to excellence, sustainability, and innovation. I am confident that we have exciting projects ahead of us that will allow us to continue to promote healthy eating and the international development of the company” commented Alberto Gallardo.
